Celebrate Persian New Year with Go Eat Give at Destination Iran! Experience the true culture & cuisine of Persia in Atlanta, with dinner, speaker & entertainment. Nowruz (Persian New Year) marks the first day of spring & the beginning of the year in Iranian calendar. 

The word "Nowruz" is a compound of two Persian words, "now" which has the same etymology as the English word "new" and means new, and the word "ruz" which means both "day" and "time." The Persian Nowruz begins on the first day of spring (usually the 21st of March). The 21st of March, therefore, is equal to the 1st day of Farvardin of the Islamic solar calendar

Hear from special guest speaker Yasmin Rahmani. Rahmani is a graduate of Georgia State University with a BS in Chemistry and MS in Neuroscience. After graduating in 2009, she traveled to Spain on a Fulbright Scholarship to research treatments for spinal cord injuries. She currently works as a scientist project manager at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). When she is not in her lab coat, she stays busy as a freelance graphic and web designer. She was especially drawn to speak at this event not only because she is Iranian, but also because she was born on the Persian New Year! She will share a few of her childhood memories of “Nowruz” in Iran and what it means to be Iranian/Persian living in Atlanta.

Sample menu includes: salad shirazi,  hummus, baba ganoush, must o’ kheiar, kashke bademjon, koobideh kabob, chinjeh kabob, chicken kabob, baklava, and hot tea. Vegetarian options also available.
